How To Help

Summit School is successful because of the involvement of so many families. We are a unique environment and depend upon involvement from families in many ways to make our school the fabulous place that it is.

Below is just a beginning list of the ways that you can get involved. Ask your child's teacher, Mrs. Dutter (our principal) or our PTO President, Kimberly Rivers how you can get involved. We need folks to "chair" a committees.

-Fundraising Committee: The PTO is responsible for paying for many of the programs and activities that make Summit the special place it is, including Art Trek, funding the teachers aids (not every school provides aids). We cannot do this without fundraising. We are looking for folks who want to do "general fund" fundraising and also 6th grade families who can work with their 6th graders on fundraising for their Catalina Trip in the spring. In addition we have a special donation of the hand made, one of kind, wooden surf board to raffle/sell/auction.

-Garden Club: Working with Dr. David White from Food for Thought and teachers to enhance and expand our school garden & edible forest.

-Art Trek: This is a fabulous program where parents take a once a month training to learn the "lessons" and then teach the lessons in class each week. Ask your child's teacher about details. First trainings are in September

-Yearbook Committee: We have a wonderful Yearbook Chair, just need folks to help contribute photos throughout the year and help as needed.

-Campus Beautification Committee: This will be a group that will determine what needs Summit has in terms of landscaping issues and work to better our campus. Current ideas are: lower grass field regrading, baseball diamond, grass areas, misc. landscaping, art & murals around campus. Contact Kimberly Rivers to get involved: kimberly.rivers@gmail.com or cell: 805-727-1393

Wellness Committee: Working toward wellness (nutrition, activities, "green" campus)

What else? Know something we need, just let us know. Form your committee.
